2 April 2010, The 17th anniversary of Laguna Phuket’s sea turtle release ceremony will take place at the Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket beachfront at the beginning of April 2010. The event is to fundraise for Phuket Marine Biological Centre and the Third Naval Area Command, Royal Thai Navy to buy satellite tracking devices for the ongoing conservation and research programme, as well as food for turtle nurseries. Participants will able to play game booths on the beach, compete in turtle sand sculpture competitions, and donate to releasing juvenile turtles. The event will include the very first turtles equipped with satellite tracking devices to be released directly into the Andaman Ocean under this research programme.
