THAI Launches First Biofuels Passenger Flight in Asia

Thai Airways (THAI) is set to be the first airline in Asia to fly a commercial passenger flight using biofuels, to support the company’s Travel Green initiative as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

THAI President Piyasvasti Amranand was quoted as having said that in raising environmental awareness and the effects of global warming, THAI, as the national carrier, has opted to operate a commercial flight using biofuel renewable energy as one way to help in the reduction of carbon dioxide. Amranand added that THAI hopes that its support and participation in using biofuels will encourage other carriers in the region to choose biofuel renewable energy over fossil fuels. Thai Airways Offers First Class Service to Dubai

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited is offering Royal First Class service for the first time to Dubai in the Middle East, starting from 1 December 2009 utilizing Airbus 340-600 aircraft.

Mr. Pruet Boobphakam, Executive Vice President, Commercial Department, said that Thai Airways International has always enjoyed loyal support from Arab and expatriate communities, where premium class travel in the Middle East has always been highly popular. The Middle East routes have had double-digit growth in the last few years. The Company views the Middle East as one of the most important markets in Thai Airways network, despite strong competition from Middle East based carriers. With the new Airbus 340-600, Thai Airways is able to offer more seating in Royal Silk Class at a capacity of 60 seats and introduce eight Royal First Class seats.

Royal First Class passengers are offered dedicated First Class check-in counter service at Suvarnabhumi and Dubai Airports, Royal First Class Lounge access at Suvarnabhumi Airport and Royal Orchid Spa Lounge, providing two private therapy suites and sauna, exercise and yoga spaces. Thai Airways Introduces New Route Phuket – Hong Kong on 25 October 2009

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited will introduce the new route, PhuketHong Kong effective 25 October 2009 onwards.

Mr. Pruet Boobphakam, THAI Executive Vice President, Commercial Department, said THAI will start to operate a direct flight, PhuketHong Kong from 25 October 2009 onwards to support passenger’s demand on this route, where there is high demand for travel in early 2010.

The new route PhuketHong Kong is expected to earn revenue for THAI in the new upcoming winter traffic program (October 2009 – March 2010), with 3 flights per week operating on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, utilizing Airbus 330-300 aircraft with seat capacity of 305 seats (42 on Royal Silk Class and 263 on Economy Class). The return flight routed Hong Kong – Phuket will also operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, as follows:

Phuket – Hong Kong: Flight No. TG 638, Departure Time(Local Time) 13.15 hrs, Arrival Time(Local Time) 17.45 hrs, Days of Operation: Wednesdays Fridays Sundays

THAI Standardizes Thai Signature Inflight Meals Food On Board Worldwide

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited will begin to standardize the taste and quality of its inflight Thai meals on all flights, effective 1 September, 2009.

THAI’s inflight meals will be based on the same standards for incoming and outgoing flights from 40 different cities, besides its home base of Bangkok.

As of 1 September, inflight meals on every flight departing from European and Australian destinations will feature a different dish in each month. Yellow curry (Massaman), spicy salmon, and chicken stir fry with basil will be served on board during the months of September, October, and November, respectively. During those months, spicy duck curry, panang curry, and green curry will be served on flight departing from Europe (Stockholm, Frankfurt, Zurich, and Copenhagen) as well as the Bangkok-Narita route.
